Oh, and if you are unable to contact me throughout the prelim period, do forgive me, I could have hidden/stashed/locked my phone somewhere to prevent it from being a constant distraction.

The Start of The End.

How fast it seems that we are beginning to reach the finishing line of the arduous secondary four life. Homework and revision had never seemed so bad. I recall, that when Henry and John had complained about the sec4 life last year, we had all brushed it aside and treated those complaints as exaggerated situations of the actual fact. (No offense to Henry and John =)

Little did we expect that, this year, we were to face the same fate, all the shit, all the work. It all seemed like a dark abyss at the end of the long and treacherous tunnel.

Finally Prelim 3 was to arrive. And Finally for a perfect reason.

This time, this prelim, we cannot afford to tell ourselves "Screw this prelim, we'll catch up in the next".

There is no next prelim. And for that matter, I have told myself to do the best I can for this Prelim, to give it all my best such that I would have a good gauge of my results. Mugger-ish as it may sound, I certainly hope that it pays off!

Amongst all the subjects, there is one that seems ever troublesome : Social Studies. Further elaboration seems unnecessary.

English Paper tomorrow.

Was looking forward to the announcement of the price plans for iPhone 3G, but little did I expect that Singtel would have the audacity to pull such a stunt off! For the S$25/month plan, you would have to pay a hefty 700dollars for the 8GB iPhone. WTH?!

It seems to me that they assume everyone would purchase the iPhone at 700dollars.

I find it completely and absolutely ridiculous .

I recall Steve Jobs mentioning that the iPhone 3G, is targeted at the wider audience. And after incessant complains of the first generation iPhone burning a hole in the pocketS, they decided to lower the price of the second generation iPhone.

But it seems as if nothing is being done.

So much for the damn price cap of US$199.

English oral went rather smoothly today. Thought out of the three components, I had a slight slip up at picture discussion, something minor, nothing much. But, otherwise, all went well.

What's done is done.

Prelims are round the corner. Time to step it up and give it all I have got the final prelim. Hope it would be a morale booster!

Usain Bolt is insanely fast! Just watched his 200m race and he was metres ahead of everyone! What an athlete!?

I wonder if he has taken the dope test.

Honour, Pride and Glory.

48 years it was? And that was at the Olympics in 1960, a Silver Medal in Weightlifting.

2008, the table tennis team can be said to have done the whole Singapore proud by bringing back the first medal in 48years. Many felt that so what if the Table Tennis team would bring back a medal? They are after all, Permanent residents from China, the home of Table Tennis.

My thoughts were of that, till the point when I had watched the Victory Ceremony.

We had lost to China in straight sets, 3 to 0. In fact no one had expected Singapore to claim the Gold Medal. It was akin to going to the home of table tennis and robbing them of a Gold Medal that they were sure were in the bag. Even the coaches and the players had been rather pessimistic of their chances of winning. A 10% chance.

But what had evoked the patriotic spirit was when, three table tennis players stood there. In front of all in the Peking University Gymnasium. Standing proudly, the Singapore flag worn proudly over their heart. No matter if they were formerly from China, what matters now is that they are Singapore citizens.

What had made the victory even sweeter was when our very own Singaporean, the IOC representative for our Singapore had presented the silver medals to the paddlers. It was a historic moment.

Gold or Silver, they still shine as brightly.

The Singapore flag was then raised. The first in 48 years. Hopefully the next would be accompanied by the National Anthem. =)

Lessons ended exceptionally early today, with Mrs Tang having extra Oral practice some from class. As such, lesson ended at 2.30, maybe a little later considering the incredibly difficult Physics test had taken up an extra 15minutes. Went out to Hawkerway with JS, SY, ML and JH for lunch before retuning home. Laughed quite a bit during lunch...

As if mysteriously planned. iPhone 3G is launching this Friday, my contract had ended last Friday. Which would mean that I would most probably (probably ONLY) be able to get a new contract and iPhone along with it. What opportune timing! But all hopes would be dashed if the price plan announced on Friday would be an astronomical amount. And by that I mean that if the iPhone reaches $300 WITH a plan.

Hopefully...

News and Expository.

Crap, another month without an update.

Catching up was not easy I guess. When other CCAs have stepped down months ago and with teachers constantly pounding stacks of homework on the desk, the to-do list seems to go on forever. Now, stepped down and done with CHMA, the month's worth of catching up on schoolwork and revision has finally paid dividends.

All 9 subjects. At least I caught up, now it's to take a step further and be not just one step ahead - but probably a few paces ahead of the pack.

That aside, I find the Beijing Olympics, surprisingly, a resounding success. Am I over zealous in drawing such a conclusion this early? I am afraid not.

Initially, even on the 7th of August, I was skeptical about Beijing hosting the Olympics, Given the governmental system (no offense), the language barrier, the 'technological deficiencies' of an Asian country and the huge hype about the pollution. I am certainly in awe at what China has done so far. Well done!

The only complaint? Well there was the huge hoo-hah when many worldwide had found out that the little girl singing the song during the opening ceremony was actually not singing it. Instead it was another girl who was hidden away from the eyes of the world. The reason given? Well she was not flawless enough - to put it across blatantly, the organizing committee felt that she was not pretty. (no offense once again!).

Another inconsequential incident was the fireworks that resembled footsteps that had led to the "Bird-Nest Stadium". It was a computer generated image and it was said to produce a 'better, theatrical effect'.

An overdose of perfection? The incidents were probably victims of the grandiose plans of the committee.

Have been increasingly interested in many newspaper articles and expository essays.

Including this month's Broader Perspectives, where many controversial topics were included in the 30essay compilation.
